A large earthquake about 8.8 on the Richter scale hit northeastern Japan and set off tsunami. The Japan earthquake hit 125 kilometres off the eastern coast and has set off a tsunami. Officials state that waves as high as 20 feet could hit the coast. 

already more than 2000 people killed by the tsunami in Japan and many are also missing.
